Welcome

We are a community playgroup that has been running for over 30 years!

Our ethos is to promote every child's development and self-esteem in a safe, friendly play environment under the care and guidance of experienced staff. We have fantastic premises with two indoor play areas and a lovely outside garden with play equipment. We also have a large off‑street car park so that your children can be safely delivered and collected.

We run two different groups: Playgroup for 3-5 year olds and Playclub for 2-3 year olds.

We are registered with Ofsted and a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

Reigate Park Church Playgroup offers pre-school provision for 3-5 year olds. We have a broad curriculum within a will-structured framework that covers the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This gives children opportunities to explore and develop and to pursue their own interests.

Our aim is to provide safe and stimulating play in a friendly, caring atmosphere. By the time your child leaves we hope we will have helped them to acquire the necessary social, physical and mental skills to become a confident and keen learner.

The children can choose to play a wide range of activities including playdough, sand and water trough, dressing up, construction toys, puzzles, climbing frame, play boat, drawing/colouring and painting or relaxing in the book corner with an adult. Every week, children choose a book from the library to take home with them.

Children are encouraged to take part in activities linked to the curriculum.

We have a free flow indoor/outdoor approach to learning and many of our activities take place outside.

We cook with the children twice a term.

Children can come to the snack table to have their snack between 10:30 and 11:20 and we provide milk and water for them to drink. Suitable snacks are those such as fruit, vegetables, breadsticks, rice cakes.

The morning ends with an activity all together (circle time, ring games, music and movement etc.) and then songs and a story. We pride ourselves on a high staff to children ratio (1:51/2). At each session there are 4 staff and a parent helper for a maximum of 24 children.

Playclub

Reigate Park Church Playclub for 2-3 year olds is run in conjunction with the Playgroup. Sessions are run on a free play basis, giving children an opportunity to play with puzzles, construction toys and our home corner. We offer activities such as painting, glueing, drawing and playdough. There is also the chance to relax with an adult in the book corner. In dry weather throughout the year, children at Playclub can also enjoy outdoor play on the patio with trikes and 'ride-ons'.

At each session there are 3 staff for a maximum of 12 children.

Our staff

Our staff have a wealth of experience. The manager is a QTS and the rest of the staff have a variety of backgrounds - NNEB, NVQ3 and Pre-School Learning Alliance qualifications. All staff are CRB checked (now DBS) and there is at least 1 first aider on each day. All staff take part in regular training updates.

Playclub

Currently our fees are £13.00 per session. Some 2-year-olds are eligible for free early education. Please refer to the GOV.UK page Free Early Education for more details.

Fees are set and reviewed annually by the committee. They are payable half termly in advance or weekly by request. The playgroup is a non-profit making charity, and the monies received from fees pay staff salaries and general running expenses. We make a donation to the church for use of the premises. Any money left goes towards new equipment and staff training. Playgroup fees are generally in line with the current nursery grant.

Parents

Parental involvement

We aim to involve parents in all aspects of their child's play and development, and in the running of the playgroup. We actively encourage parental involvement through helping out in one or two sessions per term, serving on the committee and helping out with fundraising events. We also have one or two social occasions every year for the whole family. It may interest you to know that many of our staff started out as parents.

Settling In

Every child reacts differently when starting playgroup and we make every effort to ensure that your child will feel welcome and secure. Children need to get to know and trust the staff and staff need to get to know the children. We have a keyworker system whereby a member of staff has responsibility for a small number of children, helping them to settle in and liaising with their parents. Sometimes a favourite cuddly toy can help. The manager will discuss settling in with parents to ensure confidence and understanding.

Absence

If your child is ill, please confirm in writing which dates they were absent from playgroup - playgroup.info@reigateparkchurch.org
If your child will be absent for any other reason, please fill out this form and hand it in at playgroup.
